Pixies

I went to see Pixies at Brooklyn Steel the week of Thanksgiving. They were so good! Show was tight, short and video-enhanced with psychedelic prints. Check out the video!

Nine Inch Nails

Guys I saw Nine Inch Nail on Sunday–it was so great. Their work ethic and craftsmanship is impeccable–it sound slike studio versions live. The Jesus and Mary Chain opened for them-fun. Also they covered David Bowie. All hail Trent. Check out the videos!

Mahalia

I discovered this singer Mahalia on the show Insecure. She has an amazing voice all–take note. Her opener, Jvck James, also has an amazing voice, and on Mahalia’s first song, Proud of Me, her feature LIttle Simz came out on stage to do her verse! It was a great show–check out the videos.

Stevie Wonder

So yesterday I took the bus to Atlantic City to see Stevie Wonder. I know. First half hour I was moved to tears by the talent, longevity, and love for his fans. Cried tears of joy through Don’t You Worry Bout a Thing. The rest was just fun. So the band was amazing, and Stevie’s voice was as clear and true as in his early career–if anything he’s gotten better, and certainly more prolific. He’s was funny too (“Are you ready to make your life a hate-free zone, where no bullshit can be near you?”). His back up singers were so strong, and he was very energetic throughout the whole performance. Something I had not seen anywhere was a harpejji, a flat guitar-like stringed instrument that you pick with your fingers, but you can draw a note out like on a guitar. He played John Lennon’s “Imagine” on that. I took a couple videos–check em out.

Regina Spektor

Well…this show was so good that I feel kind of stupid for thinking I knew what a good show is. Her voice is as strong and true as when I first listened to her in 2006. She’s also incredibly funny and has so much stamina…I think she sang for two hours! If you ever get a chance…you will not be disappointed. @ Brooklyn Steel

The Dandy Warhols

The Dandies are my favorite band. It was great to see them, still rocking out and as talented as ever. It was my first time at Warsaw too… I like it! The keyboardist, Zia Mccabe, is also a DJ–DJ Rescuel I love her! Also Courtney Taylor-Taylor…need I say more?

Aimee Mann

So I saw Aimee Mann at The Town Hall on Saturday.–dying for every second of it. All the new songs were amazing and she was so personable and all the stuff she said was so intimate. Jonathan Coulter opened for her, he was great, kind of like Ben Folds but no piano obviously, and, well, happy. Loved itttt!

Twenty One Pilots

Ahh….OMG…just got home this was so fun! So–after the first song Tyler Johnson appeared in the section RIGHT NEXT TO MINE…which was very, very, very, far away from the stage so I was the luckiest. Their music is so high energy and the lyrics are amazing. This concert was three years in the making (sold out, then had to give away my tickets because of a business trip), and it’s the happiest i’ve been this year. Also, my first time at the Prudential Center, it’s great, and so much easier to get to than Metlife!
